RECREATION AND PARKS

Current Situation

Our recreation facilities and parks continue to be improved with new investments from residents’ taxes and successfully obtaining grants from senior levels of government and foundations. There have been many upgrades to existing recreation facilities and parks. The growth in recreation and the Greater Vernon’s population has outstripped our current recreation facilities’ capacity for gymnasiums, indoor walking, fitness classes and indoor aquatics and outdoor fields. The Lakeview pool (Peanut Pool) has gone beyond its useable life and is currently being replaced. The number of people, both residents and visitors, walking on our trails and in our parks has increased dramatically pushing for the completion of community wide trail networks and local trails.
